Apple will make a big surprise this year by launching two iPhones at once in September. It said Deutsche Bank’s Equity Research analyst Chris Whitmore. Whitmore predicts Apple will release a fifth-generation iPhone at the same time or possibly in September and the company also will exhibit a fast version of the iPhone 4 for $ 350 without operator contract.

cheaper iPhone will be sold with a pre-pay feature where consumers can pay monthly for the number and time of call (speech) is limited. Apple iPhone entered the ranks of the current premium smartphone. But, Whitmore believes the latest iPhone 4 will help Apple compete with other competitors in the segment of cheap mobile phones.

Whitmore said that smart phone sales in the segment of low-end and mid-end will grow three times as fast as sales of smart phones in high-end segment. In 2014, he said, the smart phone shipments in mid-end segment may exceed the high-end segment.

“We believe this is the right time for Apple to boost the penetration of smartphones in the mid-end market and expand its market,” he said. He noted Nokia Corp. and Research In Motion Ltd. is struggling in low-cost handsets, as quoted from the Los Angeles Times.

Apple finally buy Wi-Gear, a company specialized in making devices with Bluetooth audio accessories quoted from the site 9to5Mac technology. The acquisition was immediately sparked speculation that Apple will include wireless stereo headphones for iPhone and iPod touch the next generation.

Although there has been no official confirmation from Wi-Gear and Apple about the acquisition, but Michael Kim, co-founder of Wi-Gear, now have started to tamper with and prepare the device at Apple’s Bluetooth stereo headphones with the IOS platform.

Wi-Gear is iMuffs maker, stereo Bluetooth headsets, which many fans hunted iPhone and iPod touch. Most of the iPhones and iPod touch mania want to be free from the headphone cord loops that become part of the sale. Apple actually has a few Bluetooth accessory devices, such as the mouse, trackpads, and keyboards. But they always fail to deliver the stereo Bluetooth headsets are qualified.

Acquired Wi-Gear, if true, may lift Apple to compete with Motorola and Plantronics, which also produces a stereo Bluetooth headsets.

HTC smart mobile phone manufacturers from Taiwan, began bergeliat and tried to plug the iPhone trademark as the production of Apple’s competitors.

In an effort to be known globally, HTC Acer Inc. followed suit., Taiwan, other large companies, which competes with Dell Inc. in seizing the title’s second largest computer manufacturer. The name of another software manufacturer from Taiwan that is emerging middle of Trend Micro Inc. and Asustek Computer Inc., computer and cellular phone manufacturers.

Unlike the copycat iPhones, HTC is trying to provide a diversity of types of customer needs, there are cell phones with slide-out keyboards or touch screens. Apple has an online store, while HTC’s focus on mobile products with a choice of music and applications as needed.

HTC is behind Apple for the first quarter 2008 sales, had sold 3.7 million units while the American competitors are selling 4.4 million, Wallis-Jones report. Almost two years later, Apple’s lead with second-quarter sales this year as many as 8.4 million while 5.4 million HTC but HTC just see it as a sales spike. The company is targeting sales of 6.5 million units this quarter, double the shipments in the same period last year.

HTC may be less than smart phones that use Windows Mobile software output of Microsoft Corp. ‘proficiency level in these but when Google released Androidnya smart phone applications in 2008, HTC is the first company to utilize the software in its products and it is considered successful. Every U.S. consumer, unless AT & T, iPhone partner, chose the Android phone as an iPhone alternative

Have you ever wished that your iPod Touch was an iPhone? Now it can be, thanks to a new device called the “Apple Peel 520″ and created by a Chinese company.
Invented by a 22-year-old programmer who lives in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, the gadget is comprised of a case that fits around the outside of Apple’s iPod Touch, a popular media player and Wi-Fi-enabled pocket computer with e-mail, maps and other applications.
The Apple Peel 520 case contains a battery, dock connector and SIM card that allows voice calls. Users will also have to install special software to enable a text messaging function, and to allow the device to properly work with the iPod Touch (users will have to break into the software of the iPod in order to download the necessary applications).
Once installed, the Apple Peel gets around five hours of talk time and 120 hours on standby, according to a review posted on Dailytech.com.
I developed it because I love the iPhone, but it’s too expensive in China. –’Maxpy’, developer of Apple Peel 520 CNN interviewed the inventor of the device via QQ, a popular instant messaging service in China (he declined a phone interview and was only willing to offer his online name: “Maxpy”).

When asked why he created the Apple Peel, Maxpy said it boiled down to economics: “Because I love the iPhone, but it’s too expensive in China.” Maxpy said he began building the device last April, revealing the final product online about a month ago via a company he started called Yosion Technology.
The iPhone, which was officially launched on the mainland last October, more than two years after its debut in the US, costs between $588 – $740 while an iPod Touch is around $235. The Apple Peel sells for $57.
Analysts said a thriving gray market flooded with fake iPhones smuggled in from Hong Kong and the West has hurt legitimate sales of the Apple smart phone here.

The illegitimate phones are usually cheaper and contain functions, such as wireless Internet, that are not available on phones sold through legal channels.
“All of the potential users already had purchased an iPhone, they had found a way to buy one,” Leo Wang, founder of Mobile 2.0 forum, a telecom and mobile organization, told CNN after the China launch of iPhone release last year. “The official iPhone is too expensive.”
Whether or not the Apple Peel 520 will appeal to Chinese consumers or have any impact on iPhone sales in the country remains to be seen. So far, according to Maxpy, only around 150 of the devices have been pre-sold on Taobao.com, a popular Chinese e-commerce site. Two were sent to technology websites for review.

While there are plans to mass manufacture the gadget in the future, Maxpy says those plans are on hold until the company can ensure there are no intellectual property right violations.
“We have no detailed plans,” he said. “But of course we want to make a profit from it.”
Maxpy also said they want to check on Apple’s policy on “outside devices” as well as try to reach the company to see if they have any interest in the gadget, asking CNN whether we could put him in touch with Apple CEO Steve Jobs. We could not.

CNN did try to reach Apple representatives in Beijing and Hong Kong. No one was available for comment.
There are also a few technical glitches to be worked out. According to a Chinese review translated into English on M.I.C. Gadget, the Apple Peel does not support 3G, there’s a small lag time when calls are made from the iPod Touch and deleting and forwarding text messages is not available, among other minor complaints.

Nevertheless, many say they are impressed with the functionality of the device.
“It is the first time there has been a hardware application that has changed the functionality in such a key way,” said Tai-Pan (a pseudonym), editor of the Taiwan-based Shanzhai.com. “It is very cheap for someone with an iPod Touch, so there is some kind of value proposition for people who want to save money.”
What’s more is the Apple Peel also illustrates the evolution of China’s massive “shanzhai,” or black market, phone industry. Based mostly in Shenzhen, it is an industry characterized by the massive production of copycat mobile phones and other devices, which are sold at lower prices and often with more localized functionality than global brands.
Every year, millions of shanzhai phones are sold throughout China and exported to developing countries, resulting in a major dent in the sales of mainstream manufacturers in those markets, according to the research firm Gartner.
“People are already or will soon be buying not just China-made but China-owned products,” said Benjamin Joffe, founder of the Beijing-based mobile and Internet consulting firm Plus8Star.
“Most of Apple’s factories are in China, so it is not like China cannot make high-quality products,” he said.
“The issue remaining to go up the value chain has been design, marketing and distribution. Chinese companies are learning, acquiring talent and buying what is missing.” By Lara Farrar, for CNN

Back in the dark ages of personal computing, if you wanted to look through the programs on your machine and, say, open a Microsoft Word document from the floppy drive, you would need to type a list of arcane commands that went something like this:
DIR *.EXE
MSWORD.EXE A:\REPORT.DOC
In an effort to win over less technical users, both Apple and Microsoft dumped that command-line interface for personal computers more than two decades ago, replacing it with visual icons for files, folders and applications. Over the years, they added animations and search technology and other features to make navigating a Mac or Windows PC even easier.
Yet all of the gloss and glitter doesn’t hide the fact that both operating systems are still pretty geeky and difficult for many computer users to navigate. I frequently get calls from family members asking why the font size on their Web browser suddenly changed or where they should look for the photos they have just downloaded from their digital camera.
I never get that kind of call about Apple’s iPhone.
The iPhone, although locked and frustratingly placed into a walled garden, is the epitome of simplicity. You control it by touching the screen — an intuitive interface that even a toddler can figure out. It’s virtually impossible to change key settings by accident. And if you do somehow mess things up, it’s a cinch to reset the machine back to its pristine, out-of-the-box state.
Why can’t PCs work that way?
There are, of course, all sorts of legacy reasons why the front-end design of computer operating systems is so complicated. Microsoft, for example, strives to make each new version of Windows familiar to customers of earlier versions.
But Apple’s iPhone and computer operating systems are both based on the Unix operating system. Why not use the iPhone interface as the basis for a new round of Apple computers?
And in Microsoft’s case, what if the company scrapped the front end of Windows 7 and the troubled Vista OS and moved to the new, elegant interface it is using for its Windows Phone 7 Series mobile phones? Would users really be upset?
Microsoft The Windows Phone 7 Series interface
From a technology perspective, the transition wouldn’t be as simple as copying the OS from the phone and pasting it onto a computer system, but it would give these companies the opportunity to simplify their computers and create commonality between the phone and desktop interfaces. And it would allow them to capitalize on the predicted mass migration of users from PCs to mobile devices.
Putting a simple and easy-to-use mobile OS onto desktops and laptops would limit errors by users and simplify existing file-based computing. Users wouldn’t be forced to figure out where their iTunes music sits or even have to learn separate operating systems for their phones and desktops.
To some extent, the industry is already moving in this direction of simplified operating systems. Google’s Android’s user interface, originally aimed at smartphones, is being used in the small, basic laptops known as netbooks. Apple is using the iPhone OS in its iPad tablet computer.
As Brian Chen of Wired predicted after Apple unveiled the iPad last month, “With the iPad and the horde of tablets that will follow it, we can expect computing to become much easier than what we’re accustomed to today.”
One of the big challenges to moving the iPhone or Windows Phone 7 operating system to personal computers involves the multitouch interface. Although Microsoft and Apple have been working for years to integrate multitouch into their respective operating systems, it’s not as easy as starting from scratch — especially for Mac OS X, Apple’s current computer operating system.
A former senior Apple engineer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of confidentiality agreements signed while an employee, explained that adding full multitouch to OS X would require a hefty redesign of many components in the code. “It’s one thing to add multitouch to a few applications, implementing the ability to pinch and zoom from the trackpad on the laptop with the Preview application,” the engineer said. “But it’s a whole different story if you want to implement these technologies on the desktop, or globally on OS X.”
An easier approach, the Apple engineer indicated, would be to add the iPhone OS as a layer on top of OS X, similar to Apple’s Front Row experience.
Another former Apple programmer I consulted pointed out that Mac OS X is a “kludged mess of code from past operating systems.” The programmer added that if Apple could start over with the desktop OS, it “would take into consideration that Google’s Android OS is going to look and work almost exactly the same on computers and mobile phones, and it won’t have a desktop feel.”
If Apple were to adopt an iPhone-like OS for its computers, developers would have to build applications for only one platform, the programmer said, and Apple could even extend the platform to Apple TV. “It’s like Apple has the opportunity for a do-over.” By NICK BILTON
