Apple replaces all iPod nano in Japan
Apple will replace all of the iPod nano in Japan, due to portable music players are experiencing hot overheating during use, raise the previous bid, which will only replace defective batteries.
Concessions on Tuesday came out after the Japanese Trade Ministry puts the world’s largest technology companies that are in control, ordered to publish a statement that “easily understood” on its website that explains how the user’s device to get a replacement battery and explanations.
The first generation model, which sold between September 2005 and December 2006, responsible for 60 incidents of overheating in Japan, including four cases of minor burns, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Apple described the incident as “very rare” and blamed the problem on a single battery supplier, without identifying the manufacturer.
A spokesman for the U.S. company in Tokyo on Wednesday refused to comment on the number of devices sold in Japan because Japan is still at odds with the government. “We have worked closely with METI to ensure that the first generation iPod nano customers who care about their batteries to get the latest information,” said a company spokesman based in the U.S., Tom Neumayr on August 6.
METI said “absolutely deplorable” calls METI Apple until Sunday to approximately 30 incidents of overheating reported, according to Reuters reports.
