Nokia and Intel: Marketed Ready Meego
The biggest mobile phone maker Nokia and chip maker Intel said on Tuesday that the software generated from their joint venture, is strong enough to be marketed.
“The response is really positive,” said Mika tune, director of industry alliances at Nokia, told reporters. “Community MeeGo active, excited,” said Martin Curley, head of Intel Labs Europe.
In February the two companies announced plans to make MeeGo, merging the Linux software platform with Intel’s Moblin Nokia Maemo, which is also based on open-source software Linux.
Nokia hopes MeeGo will help in the battle against Apple’s iPhone and Google Android on top of the phone market. Last year Nokia and Intel announced a broad cooperation agreement, also mentioned a plan to make the hardware together.
“We are still exploring possibilities for the hardware together, but nothing more was published,” said the tune quoted by Reuters.
